Jessica Wynd steps into Associate Director role

At Parker Coles Curtis, we're proud to celebrate the people who help shape our firm and make a difference for our clients every day.

Today, we're delighted to congratulate Jessica Wynd on her well-deserved promotion to Associate Director.

Jess has spent more than 15 years building an outstanding career in family law, earning a reputation for her technical expertise, thoughtful leadership and commitment to her clients. Her promotion recognises not only her experience, but the impact she has had on our team, our clients and the future of the firm.

Reflecting on what the appointment means, Jess describes it as both a personal achievement and an important responsibility.

‘Personally, it reflects the hard work and commitment of showing up every day for the last 15 years. Professionally, it's an opportunity to contribute to the firm in a different way—not just by mentoring junior lawyers, but by helping shape the direction of the firm and making a meaningful contribution to its future.’

A career built around people

With a background in communications and marketing and a lifelong love of working with people, Jess was drawn to family law because it offers something unique.

‘It's the ability to work with people through the most difficult times of their lives and help them come out the other side. That sense of accomplishment, knowing you've helped someone move forward, is incredibly rewarding.’

Throughout her career, Jess has developed experience across a broad range of family law matters. In Darwin, she focused on complex parenting disputes, while in Melbourne she worked extensively on intricate, high-value financial matters.

For Jess, the variety is one of the profession's greatest strengths.

‘Every family is different. Every day brings a new challenge. I love the problem-solving, finding creative solutions and working collaboratively—both within our team and with other practitioners—to achieve the best outcomes for our clients.’

Helping shape the future of Parker Coles Curtis

Jess is excited not only about her new role, but about what lies ahead for Parker Coles Curtis.

She credits Directors Debra, Catherine and Jacquelyn with creating a firm built on clear values, strong leadership and genuine investment in both people and culture.

‘They've built such a strong foundation with a really clear vision. I'm excited to help support the expansion of that—to explore new opportunities for growth, continue developing our lawyers, strengthen our community engagement and build on everything that's already been created.’

Investing in the next generation

Developing future leaders is something Jess takes seriously.

Her advice to junior lawyers is simple:

  • Stay curious.
  • Be resilient.
  • Take initiative.

She encourages young practitioners to embrace every opportunity to learn—whether through mentoring, specialist accreditation, further study or simply asking questions.

‘There is always something new to learn. Don't wait for opportunities to come to you. Keep growing, keep developing and always ask yourself, 'What can I learn from this?'’

Finding balance

Like many working parents, Jess acknowledges that achieving work-life balance isn't always straightforward.

Since becoming a mother, she's become increasingly intentional about protecting time with her family while recognising there will always be periods when work requires extra focus.

‘Balance is something you're constantly working on. The important thing is making deliberate decisions about where your time and energy are going.’

Outside the office, Jess is an enthusiastic traveller, self-confessed foodie and an advanced open water scuba diver. Whether she's planning her next adventure or introducing her daughter to the joys of travel, she embraces opportunities to experience something new.

Leading with purpose

One of the values that resonates most strongly with Jess is the importance of female leadership.

As part of a female-led firm, she sees her promotion as more than a personal milestone—it represents an opportunity to help create pathways for others.

‘Representation matters. Being in this position means a great deal to me because I want to help lift other women up, not pull the ladder up behind me. I feel a real sense of responsibility to ensure my journey reflects well on the women who come after me.’

That commitment to leadership, mentorship and creating opportunities for others perfectly reflects the culture of Parker Coles Curtis.

Congratulations again, Jess, on this well-deserved promotion. We look forward to seeing the impact you'll continue to make for our clients, our team and the future of the firm.
