Celebrating community impact: proud to be a Hands Across Canberra Hero
At Parker Coles Curtis, we believe that supporting our community extends well beyond the work we do for our clients.
That's why we're proud to be recognised as a Hands Across Canberra (HAC) Hero, standing alongside individuals and organisations committed to creating meaningful, lasting change across our region.
Recently, our Director, Debra Parker, had the privilege of attending a special luncheon at Government House hosted by Her Excellency the Governor-General, Sam Mostyn AC, during Hands Across Canberra's Impact Week. The event brought together HAC Heroes to acknowledge the generosity and commitment of those helping strengthen the Canberra community through philanthropy and partnership.
It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the collective impact that can be achieved when businesses, charities and community leaders come together with a shared purpose.

Reflecting on the impact
Hands Across Canberra had a huge impact in 2026. This year alone:
- 87 local charities participated in the Canberra Day Appeal.
- More than $200,000 in matched funding was distributed to support local organisations.
- HAC Heroes helped unlock additional funding for community initiatives and grassroots charities.
- Together with the Canberra Foundations Collaborative, 58 community projects received more than $1.6 million in funding to support initiatives including disability inclusion, youth mentoring, food relief, employment pathways, refugee settlement support and family wellbeing.
These aren't simply statistics, they represent people receiving support when they need it most, local organisations expanding their reach, and communities becoming more resilient through collaboration.
Why it matters to us
As a family law firm, we see every day the importance of strong community networks and accessible support services.
Many of the organisations supported through Hands Across Canberra provide essential assistance to vulnerable individuals and families facing significant challenges. Knowing that our partnership helps strengthen these services reinforces why community giving is such an important part of our values.
We're fortunate to work alongside many outstanding charities throughout the year, and being a Hands Across Canberra Hero allows us to contribute to an even broader network of organisations making a positive difference across the ACT.
Thank you
We extend our sincere thanks to Genevieve Jacobs AM and the entire Hands Across Canberra team for their leadership, passion and dedication to strengthening our community.
Thank you also to our clients, colleagues and community partners. Your support enables us to continue investing in initiatives that create meaningful social impact.
Together, we can help build a more connected, compassionate and resilient Canberra, and we're proud to play our part.
